For the second year in a row, Hull Kingston Rovers fan Dan Crowther has penned a season review based on all things Hull KR. Most of you reading this, including myself, have experienced many of the ups and downs of the 2022 season. From a Challenge Cup Semi-Final to losing our beloved Head Coach, from a diabolical injury crisis to winning on the final day of the season with just a 16-man squad against our nearest and dearest. We all experienced a lot, and to be able to read about it so soon after it happened is awesome.
Last year I commented how Crowther’s first book will act as a historical reference point for years to come, and A Year Of Change is exactly that too. It is wonderful to be able to follow up and read about the season so soon after its conclusion, however, it will be even better in 20-30 years to pick it up again and read it. The way A Year Of Change is written creates the ultimate level of detail, as Crowther wrote the story as it unfolded. One day a book like this will follow a success for The Robins and I for one can’t wait for that day.
The addition of guest appearances in A Year Of Change is something that takes the review to the next level. Paul Lakin can add official club input, as well as interviews with Jodie Cunningham and Trevor Tutu, amongst others.
It is usually important when you’re writing a review of something like this to not spoil what happens, but in this case, you already know what happens. The big details will always look after themselves, but it’s the smaller more niche pieces of information that make a book like this a success now in 2022, but also for future reference points for generations to come.
Here is an extract that has been provided by Crowther. In the extract, you will have the opportunity to read a little bit about ‘New Craven Park’ and the developments which followed.

If you wish, you can buy a copy of “A Year Of Change“ exclusively from Amazon priced at £4.99 on Kindle or £9.99 for a physical paperback copy. A great gift for the Robin in your life, with everything else this Christmas.
