During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, you may have seen Hull KR Shirts on Craven Streat! I had the opportunity to run multiple shirt displays across a two-year period. This was something that I really enjoyed doing, but another matchday volunteer role has seen my time and energy spent in a different way on a matchday these days.
I thought it was important to capture this part of my story, though, with a collection of images for us all to look back on. I had some support with running this exhibition on a matchday, so I would just like to publicly thank Alex Green, Dan Crowther and Keith Pollard for their support.
We started up with our displays with the Community Trusts Heritage Van in 2021. I had the opportunity to partner up two of my roles with a matchday exhibition. The gallery above covers the early stages of Hull KR Shirts‘ displays on Craven Streat, which featured one of Dean Hadley’s 2021 home shirts. The shirt was cut off Dean after a shoulder injury against Wakefield on 26th August.
In 2022, I applied a theme to my displays of ‘players who have played for both’. The idea behind this was to try and appeal to the away support as well as just the home fans at Craven Park. Above are three displays from fixtures against Huddersfield Giants, Wakefield Trinity and Warrington Wolves.
Some of the other themes that I covered were third shirts, with shirts from 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019 displayed, as well as a couple of retro rounds. The first had shirts from 1981/82, 1989/90, 1991-93 and a blank Colts shirt from circa 1986 and the second featured retro shirts from 1993/94 and 1996/97.
These were experiences that I really enjoyed, so hopefully, I will be back with another public shirt exhibition in the near future!
