In the latest Hull KR Shirts exhibition, I took a selection of around 20 shirts to the August 2025 Hull KR Foundation Heritage Evening. The shirts I took spanned 7 decades as we discussed players and shirts from the 1960s to the present day.

One of the shirts that I took was a new edition into the collection – a shirt that was worn during the 1960’s. Those in attendance were treated to a look at the jersey which is as old as my old man! The plan is to have this shirt feature in Episode 150 of Talking Shirts, so those who didn’t attend will have to wait a little while long yet to see one old the oldest Hull KR shirts in existence!
Around 30 people attended the evening, and I would like to personally thank them for attending. I hope the evening was enjoyable and informative for you. I hope the stories we’re entertaining and gave you an insight into the crazy mind that I have for the polyester and cotton of Hull KR!

I was able to tell key stories around some of the shirts within my collection, focusing on not only the shirt, but the player who wore it and if known, even the game it was worn it.
The below shirt was worn by Gary Atkins at Wembley in 1997 for the Silk Cut Plate Cup Final – a shirt that when I bought it via a social media marketplace, was originally framed. I really enjoy telling this story, as when I bought it, it was a risk. It might not have been a match worn shirt, but this was certainly a roll of the dice which paid off.

On the evening I had volunteers and members of staff from the Hull KR Foundation supporting the evening, so thank you to Leslie McNichol, Aaliyah Brewster and Carla Dixon for their time, support and help carrying all the hangers and mannequins! Special thanks also go to Josh Worthington, for the excellent photography!

The Hull KR Foundation run Heritage Evenings on the last Wednesday of every month (apart from December). Each month has its own unique theme – for more information, please keep an eye on the Official social media accounts of the Hull KR Foundation. It would be great to see some new faces at an event soon!
