On 1st February 2019, the day of our first Super League game of the 2019 season against City rivals Hull FC, I attended a reminiscence session at Dove House Hospice that focussed on Rugby League in the City. This was alongside the Heritage Team at Hull Kingston Rovers Community Trust and was also attended by Hull FC’s counterpart.
We created a display of shirts (both match worn and replica), programmes and old photographs to show residents as well as engaging them in conversation about their favourite memories of Rugby League in Hull.
This was a great warm up for Hull Derby for those in Red and White as Hull KR went on to win the game with just six seconds left on the clock, beating Hull FC 18-16 in front of a crowd over 12,000.
